This Halloween, TAG LIVE® teamed up with some of the country’s biggest names in the immersive horror entertainment business to transform Sussex’s Seal Bay Resort into an unprecedented production. There were spine-tingling thrills and plenty of white-knuckled fun for thousands at the first-ever Scream Bay event. The first-of-its-kind scare attraction proved to be a popular, world-class event featuring live actors and spooktacular special effects.

Halloween 2022 saw TAG LIVE® transform one of the UK’s best-loved coastal holiday destinations into the thing of nightmares…and was a resounding hit with visitors from far and wide who were after a superior scare adventure! Strength in numbers

 Seal Bay Resort in Selsey, West Sussex, saw over 4500 guests experience the spooky horror-filled mazes at Scream Bay over the two-week period around Halloween. Pulses were raised and nightmares fuelled when the popular UK holiday resort hosted this multi-award-winning big-budget scare attraction, designed and produced by TAG LIVE® in collaboration with some of the country’s leading immersive horror industry experts.

Experts at the helm of horror

Vicky Field, Head of Creative at TAG LIVE®, reveals, “When Cove approached us to create and produce a best-in-class scare attraction on the South coast, we at TAG LIVE® couldn’t have been more excited. Using our extensive knowledge of entertainment and our teams of highly skilled professionals, we designed, built and installed a family scare maze which opened to much acclaim.

Doubling as both a family experience and, later, one not for the faint-hearted, Scream Bay became a sold-out and award-nominated success. We look forward to developing and expanding the concept further in 2023.”

Entertainment for all

There was something sensationally scary and fabulously fun for all ages and a broad range of guests. Constructed on a playing field in the middle of the Seal Bay resort, TAG LIVE® devised the main maze structure that was used for family-friendly daytime events such as Dr Stein’s Monster Laboratory. Scream Bay then lived up to its name when it morphed into an altogether more terrifying experience aptly called The Nightmare Project at night.

Immersive experiences for all ages

For older audiences, guests aged 14 years and over needed nerves of steel as they navigated The Nightmare Project. The AEC (Alternative Energy Commission) joined a covert team of scientists as they tried to transform nightmares into a renewable power source by harvesting energy from patients whilst they were in a newly discovered sleep state called “dark REM”. With loads of scream-inducing twists and turns, TAG LIVE® helped keep visitors on their toes thanks to nightmarishly convincing characters, cutting-edge audio and hair-raising special effects – this was a definite highlight of Scream Bay.

With more emphasis on the silly and engaging and less on the scared out of your wits, holidaymakers and their little ones were treated to all the madcap fun of Dr Stein’s Monster Laboratory at Seal Bay’s inaugural scare maze. This invigorating, interactive encounter, filled with spooky surprises, brought on the giggles as visitors helped world-famous monster maker Dr Stein find clues to create the ultimate monster in his creepy laboratory.
